Christmas wreaths for a good cause

UKIST would like to say a massive thank you to Diane Hodgetts who organised a wreath-making workshop to raise funds for UKIST in honour of her grandson Harry.

Harry had infantile spasms when he was 3 months old and although he is spasm free at 3 years old, he continues to have various developmental issues – one of which is definitely not his smile – which he deploys freely –  and his happy loving nature and cheeky little character which is a joy to us all.

So….with our Harry in mind, and all the other little children like Harry, we organised the Wreath making workshop.

We had great fun joining together for our wreath making workshop in Brampton in Cambridgeshire.  We had 20 wreath makers, 2 teachers, 8 helpers (organising set-up, clear-up, raffle and refreshments) Christmas music and a whole lotta love!!

All of our wreath makers had never made wreaths before and discovered they had a talent they never knew existed!  There was a lot of laughter and jigging along to Michael Bublé’s Christmas music whilst creating our masterpieces.  The afternoon was helped along with tea, coffee and home-made cakes and mince pies.  In addition to our raffle we sold home-made jute wreath hangers and wax wraps.

A festive fun time was had by all and a not too shabby £536.75 was raised for UKIST.
