Focus on Purple Day

Here at UKIST we get really excited about Purple Day – Last year we waited with baited breath to see if our charity status would be confirmed in time – and it was, by 5 days…but more on our 1st Birthday celebrations later.

Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26th annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple and host events in support of epilepsy awareness. Last year, people in dozens of countries on all continents including Antarctica participated in Purple Day! Watch Facebook and see how many countries across the world light up in purple for epilepsy, it’s truly special.

In it’s 10th Year it continues to go from strength to strength,┬áCassidy Megan created the idea of Purple Day in 2008, motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy. Cassidy’s goal is to get people talking about epilepsy in an effort to dispel myths and inform those with seizures that they are not alone.

We are all getting on board with Purple Day once again and we hope that you will to and whether you raise money or just raise awareness – be sure to go Purple.

So save the date – MARCH 26TH 2018 and send us your purple photos – we will publish as many as we can !
